KentuckyOne Logo Now Has a Circle R 

KentuckyOne’s registration application for our logo was recently accepted, giving us greater legal protection for the logo. The logo now includes the ® symbol to assure full legal protection. Please begin using the new version. This is just one of the important guidelines in this week’s reference sheet available here. Others include allowing clear space around the logo and, in most cases, placing it on a white background. Our KentuckyOne masterbrand logo (without a facility or other entity name) is our primary logo and should be used in most applications.

KentuckyOne Health has launched a new site for employees at KentuckyOneEmployees.org/Learning. It’s a "one-stop-shop" for your learning and development needs. The home page showcases top learning stories, announcements and information on classes offered across the KentuckyOne system. Each page includes details on our learning and development programs for leaders and staff, GPS and Talent Review, mentoring, clinical education offerings, and learning tools and resources.

Good Catch: Jessamine RN Speaks Up for Safety, Prevents Wrong Medications 

Heather Olivera, a registered nurse at Saint Joseph Jessamine, noticed two medications looked very similar and were located next to one another in Accudose. She spoke up about her concerns to her Safety Coach and a decision was made to place the medications in different drawers. Her action prevented wrong medications from being given to patients. Good catch!

Culture Efforts Have Unlimited Potential 

Mark Milburn has experienced culture-building efforts in his career, and he’s excited about the KentuckyOne program’s understandable, applicable format. “This is stuff your mom taught you. We just don’t usually focus on it in our work life,” said Mark, KentuckyOne vice president and culture champion. “The concepts are really all common sense types of things but are presented in a way that is easily understandable and translatable to the mission, vision and purpose of KentuckyOne.”

Marking a Milestone: Jewish Hospital Performed 100th TAVR Procedure 

Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, marked the day of the 100th TransCatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure performed by the Heart Valve Clinical Team at Jewish Hospital. TAVR is a catheter-based aortic valve replacement procedure that offers an alternative to traditional, open-heart surgery in eligible patients.

Frazier Rehab Spinal Cord Injury Patient Profiled by Big 10 Network 

The inspirational story of Tom Morris, Indiana University strength and conditioning coach and former Frazier Rehab spinal cord injury patient, was featured on the Big Ten Network‘s LiveBIG program on Jan. 30, 2014. Tom suffered a spinal cord injury in a biking accident in 2012. Shortly after his injury, he came to Frazier Rehab Institute for inpatient care. Once his inpatient therapy ended, Tom decided to continue in the Outpatient Spinal Cord Medicine Program at Frazier.

KentuckyOne Health will receive 50 admission tickets to the UofL vs. Rutgers women’s basketball game on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. This is the annual Pink Out! game and fans are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness.
