KentuckyOne Health Names Chief Financial Officer 

Randall (Randy) Combs has joined KentuckyOne Health as chief financial officer (CFO). Randy has more than 35 years experience in health care, including 22 years as a CFO for both faith-based and academic systems. Randy most recently served as executive vice president of strategic growth and CFO for Mercy Health System in St. Louis, Missouri.

Signature HealthCARE Partnership Announced 

KentuckyOne Health has partnered with Signature HealthCARE to bring a 20-bed skilled nursing unit to Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. The unit will help transition patients from short-term hospital stays back home or to another level of care such as a rehabilitation or long-term care facility.

KentuckyOne Joins Million Hearts Initiative to Improve Heart Health 

KentuckyOne Health facilities throughout the area are participating in the Million Hearts® program to increase awareness of heart disease and prevent heart attacks. The national campaign aims to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes by 2017. Help reach this goal and make your pledge at upcoming events: July 10 at Medical Center Jewish South and July 11 at Medical Center Jewish Northeast, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Karen Owens, RN, BSN, CRCST, CHL, CIS, FCS, system director of sterile processing for KentuckyOne Health in the Louisville market, was awarded a prestigious fellowship by the International Association of HealthCare Central Service Materials Management. Karen spent more than nine months researching and preparing her fellowship paper, which details our organization’s goals and strategies around reducing the practice of immediate use sterilization in the operating room.

New Digital Mammography Suite Opens at Saint Joseph Berea 

On June 20, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to announce the opening of the new Merle M. Davis Digital Mammography Suite at Saint Joseph Berea. The suite, named in honor of beloved nurse Merle Davis, was made possible through a generous gift from the Davis family and through funding from the Saint Joseph Berea Foundation.

Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Foundation Golf Tournament Raises $16,000 

The Saint Joseph Mount Sterling Foundation hosted its 13th annual golf tournament on June 19 at the Mount Sterling Golf and Country Club. The event was presented by The Walker Company. This year’s event raised more than $16,000, with 100 golfers and 30 volunteers participating, to support mission and outreach programs at Saint Joseph Mount Sterling.

Approximately 30 clinical and non-clinical volunteers will be needed each day to staff our Kentucky State Fair exhibit, Aug. 14-24. Volunteers are needed for areas such as registration, health screenings, health information and assisting with our giant inflatable interactive heart. Enjoy perks and prize drawings! Pull up your boots, shine your buckles and join us for some good ole fashioned fun at Our Lady of Peace’s Boots & BBQ Bash Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Gheens Foundation Lodge in Louisville.
