The next phase of improving operational performance across KentuckyOne Health includes realigning, and in some cases, consolidating leadership responsibilities. Streamlining leadership roles began in fall 2013 and we will continue to carefully assess each leadership role as part of the ongoing work to transform our organization and become the KentuckyOne Health of our vision.

Benefits Update: Contraceptive Services & Prescriptions Coverage 

In January, it was announced that KentuckyOne Health employees were experiencing a delay disrupting access to contraceptive prescription drug coverage (read more). This is now resolved. Express-Scripts (ESI) began mailing contraceptive communications and ID cards on Feb. 21. If you or your family member have paid for contraception prescription coverage in 2014, be sure to submit for reimbursement directly to ESI.

Patient Portal Initial Launch March 15 

On March 15, the patient portal soft launch will occur for three KentuckyOne Health hospitals using Cerner: Saint Joseph Hospital, Saint Joseph East and Saint Joseph Jessamine. Initially, the patient portal will have limited functionality; patients will be able to use the portal only to view visit summaries and send secure messages. Patient Access staff will provide patients with information about accessing the site. Minimal patient support information will be available.

Good Catch: Danielle Hill Speaks Up for Safety, Prevents Harm 

Danielle Hill, a certified nursing assistant at Saint Joseph London, noticed a high fall risk patient's bed alarm was unplugged during her rounds. She plugged in the alarm, possibly preventing a fall event.

Jessica Russell Named ROSE Award Winner at Flaget 

Jessica Russell, a patient access representative with Flaget Memorial Hospital’s admitting department, is a recent recipient of the ROSE (Reflection of Service Excellence) Award. Rev. Karl Lusk, who serves as a chaplain for the Bardstown hospital, said “I have, on more than one occasion, observed her putting vulnerable, concerned patients at ease by her demeanor ... "

Saint Joseph Martin Physician Chandra Varia is “Rural Health Champion” 

The Kentucky Office of Rural Health has named Chandra Varia, MD, a physician at Saint Joseph Martin, a “Rural Health Champion.” The honor went to recipients across the state who have had a positive impact on the health of rural communities. “Dr. Varia has achieved much with great humility during her time in Floyd County,” said Kathy Stumbo, president of Saint Joseph Martin. “She has made a real difference in our community.”

Dr. Jesse Adams Encourages Participation in Walk with a Doc Events 

Just 30 minutes of walking a day can reduce the risk of heart disease, improve blood pressure and blood sugar, elevate mood, and reduce risk of osteoporosis, cancer and diabetes. That’s why Jesse Adams, MD, a cardiologist with KentuckyOne Health Cardiology Associates, is on a mission to get Louisvillians to take a “Walk with a Doc.” Dr. Adams will share his message on WHAS-TV on Wednesday, March 12, during the noon newscast.
