On May 6, Our Lady of Peace achieved a significant milestone with our SafetyFirst Program: 365 days since its last Serious Safety Event (SSE). This accomplishment demonstrates that by putting Safety First, we can truly change the culture for both patient and staff safety.

SafetyFirst Great Catch: Quick Thinking and Prompt Action 

Kathy Bruner, a radiology technician and medical assistant with KentuckyOne Health Orthopedic Care and Sports Medicine, used quick thinking and prompt action to keep a patient from suffering a head injury or bone fracture. Kathy was bringing a patient to an exam room. The man complained of knee pain he said came from falls that were the result of dizzy spells. Kathy noticed the patient walking in a slow, unsteady way.

You Could Win an iPad ... Designate Your PCP by May 26 

Choose your PCP by May 26 through the My Healthy Spirit website. You can find a variety of primary care providers to choose from in your area. If you already have one, simply designate their name on the site. Our goal is 17,000 signees. For each 2,500-person milestone reached by May 26, we will hold a drawing for an iPad.

Are You In? Register to Move Your Spirit! 

Are you registered for the second quarter wellness challenge– Move Your Spirit? Beginning Monday, May 12, employees will log steps and compete with each other for which location can average the most steps by June 8. It's not too late to Move Your Spirit and earn 50 wellness incentive points in the second quarter by logging your activity at least once each week throughout the challenge. Register by May 11 on the My Healthy Spirit website (look under the "Take Action" box). 

Step It Up: The challenge is 50,000 steps a week! If you don't have a FitBit to sync to your wellness site to track your steps automatically, make sure you log in to the site to manually log your points for credit.

The Kentucky Center Arts in Healing Program brings the arts to patients, families and caregivers. Thanks to the donors who give to the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation, live musical performances will be held at KentuckyOne facilities in downtown Louisville this May and June (see updated schedule).
