Non-Clinical Offices Closed Thursday/Friday – All offices and non-patient care functions are closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 22-23, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Take a few moments and think about what you are thankful for, and remember the blessings that you have given others through your good deeds. Thanks to everyone who is working this holiday, keeping our doors open to those in need.

  Saint Joseph Outpatient Care Center 

Saint Joseph Outpatient Care Center Opens in Richmond, Ky. – KentuckyOne has acquired Richmond Open MRI, a free-standing imaging center in Richmond, which began operation as Saint Joseph Outpatient Care Center on Nov. 19. It is the first location within KentuckyOne Health to provide open MRI, and will also offer CT, PET, general X-Ray, ultrasound and bone density screening. The center aligns with primary care and speciality physicians to provide coordinated care for patients in the area.

  Melvin Alexander Named CFO 

Melvin G. Alexander, CPA, MBA, will join KentuckyOne Health as our chief financial officer on Dec. 4. As a financial executive with strong community-based hospital and hospital system experience, he will lead our financial strategy and focus on operational efficiency, enabling us to deliver better care to our communities across the state. Melvin succeeds Ron Farr, KentuckyOne’s interim chief financial officer.

  Annual Enrollment Starts Next Week 

KentuckyOne Louisville Employees – If you want benefits coverage for you or your family in 2013, you must participate in this year’s annual enrollment Nov. 26 through Dec. 7. Annual enrollment will take place online through a website called Your Benefits Resource. You’ll find detailed steps in the postcard that was mailed to your home. Click on "Read More" for other helpful annual enrollment materials, including a schedule for onsite Q & A opportunities for employees.

Your Staples Ordering Site is Changing

On Nov. 26, Staples will launch a new website for ordering office supplies. Order.StaplesAdvantage.com will replace EWay.com as your super-powered new ordering site. In most cases, your recently ordered items on EWay will be saved as a personal shopping list and transfer with your other shopping lists to your new ordering site. Print your lists today just in case some items don't transfer. Look for an email with your new login information.

  Holiday Decorations

What decorations are appropriate now that we are all part of KentuckyOne Health? Our new KentuckyOne community honors our unique Christian and Jewish faith-based heritages, respecting all of our traditions. So in buildings that have always been Jewish, seasonal decorations are fine as long as they are in no way religious. In buildings that have always been Catholic, religious symbols and other decorations of Christmas are entirely appropriate.

Time to Care

Dr. Robin Youngson spoke on Nov. 15 at Jewish Hospital’s Rudd Heart and Lung Center during a free lecture presented by KentuckyOne Health and ChooseWell Louisville, in partnership with Compassionate Cities Louisville and the 2012 Festival of Faiths. Youngson has set out to reconnect health workers to the heart of their practice. His hope is to transform health care through a social movement that places compassion and caring at the center.
