New Primary Care Advertising Campaign Launches This Week 

Establishing a relationship with a primary care physician is an essential part of a health care routine. KentuckyOne Health has many primary care options to choose from, including an extensive network of primary care physicians, and options such as Urgent Care, Anywhere Care and Emergency Care. This week, we will launch a new primary care advertising campaign, “Choose Your Door,” to remind consumers about the many options they have with KentuckyOne Health.

SafetyFirst Great Catch: Kristen Longino 

Registered Nurse Kristen Longino recently cared for an elderly patient in the Saint Joseph Jessamine ED whose chief complaint was abdominal pain. After a battery of lab and diagnostic testing was performed, it was decided that the patient would be discharged for outpatient follow-up. While discharging the patient, Kristen noticed that the patient’s blood pressure was markedly elevated, and the patient was complaining of a headache. Kristen immediately notified the emergency department physician, and a CT scan of the patient’s head was ordered. The patient was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage.

Complete Requirements for Influenza Program by Dec. 15 

KentuckyOne employees are required to complete actions related to the influenza program by Dec. 15, 2014. Actions required include: 

1. Complete the Flu LEARN Module
2. Complete one of these actions: Receive your flu vaccine
     at a KentuckyOne facility; OR complete the declination 
     form; OR if you received the vaccine from outside of a
     KentuckyOne facility, provide a copy of the completed 
     consent form to Employee Health.  

All documentation must be provided to Employee Health prior to the Dec. 15 deadline.

Employee Art Exhibition Announces Prize Winners

An opening reception for the KentuckyOne Health employee art exhibition was held on Nov. 19 at the Chestnut Café at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. Thirty works from 18 employees are currently on exhibit in the Chestnut Café and will be on display through May 2015. At the reception, six employees were announced as selected to be special cash award winners for their artwork: Glenn Hirsch, Julianna Morrison-Sheridan, Leigh Montgomery, JoAnna Jackson, Susan King and Nancy Voth (her piece, Magical Bubbles, left, was awarded the Grand Prize).

Two KentuckyOne Facilities Earn ‘Top Performer’ Quality Recognition from TJC 

Two KentuckyOne Health facilities, Flaget Memorial Hospital and Saint Joseph Martin, have been recognized as 2013 Top Performers on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. Flaget Memorial Hospital was honored for achieving excellence in two fields, Surgical Care Improvement Project and Pneumonia. Saint Joseph Martin was honored for excellence in Pneumonia Care. Flaget Memorial Hospital and Saint Joseph Martin are two of just 1,224 hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2013 Top Performer distinction.
