Ebola Virus Action

KentuckyOne Health continues to closely monitor the Ebola virus situation in collaboration with state health officials, CDC and CHI’s national office of Infection Prevention and Emergency Management. With the safety of our patients, employees and physicians a top priority, we have implemented a screening protocol across the system to identify and respond to potential cases of Ebola virus which is consistent with CDC and national CHI best practices. Leaders are in constant communication with all employees to guide response and action, and will provide updates based on the evolving situation and collaboration with national leaders. Click here to see a letter from Dr. Stephen L. Moore, senior vice president and chief medical officer of Catholic Health Initiatives, for information on our unified national response.

In addition to education materials provided to employees and leaders, a patient-facing information page is now available online at KentuckyOneHealth.org/EbolaUpdate. This is designed to educate the community, and address questions and concerns. All clinical staff members are applauded for their focus and excellence in providing care, and educating our communities during this challenging time.

SafetyFirst Focus: Team Member Checking

When we are working together, we should be looking out for our fellow team members. Be aware not just of what you are doing, but of the status of the working environment. Notice what others around you are doing as well.

• Offer to check the work of others
• Point out unintended slips and lapses
• Point out work conditions that your team members
   might not have noticed

When we are performing these routine, frequent, skill-based tasks, a cross-check significantly improves our probability of "getting it right." It's called the multiplier effect.

All members of the Catholic Health Initiatives/KentuckyOne Health family are encouraged to vote in the general election on Nov. 4. Voting is our right and our responsibility as United States citizens. Your single vote can make a difference–congressional elections have been decided by only a few hundred votes, and state and local elections may have even slimmer margins. As you advocate for candidates and issues, please do not use your company email to demonstrate your support for political campaigns or to solicit votes.
