Food for Thought: Flaxseed
From your Registered Dietitians in KentuckyOne Health Food & Nutrition Services
Flax is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, lignan and fiber, all of which may reduce inflammation, combat heart disease, prevent certain types of cancer and enhance the immune system. Flaxseed is added to all kinds of foods ranging from crackers to frozen waffles to oatmeal. You may sprinkle a tablespoon of flaxseeds on yogurt, throw some ground seeds into muffin or cookie batter, or prepare salad dressing or smoothies with flaxseed oil.
