Bruce Tassin Named Saint Joseph Hospital President, Lexington Market Leader

Saint Joseph Hospital

Bruce Tassin, MBA

Beginning Nov. 9, Bruce Tassin, MBA, will join KentuckyOne Health as the new president of Saint Joseph Hospital and the Lexington market leader.

Bruce will be responsible for the implementation and engagement of the ongoing strategic plan for Saint Joseph Hospital, leading clinical and administrative teams to deliver safe, high-quality care with compassion and respect for the community. He will also handle operation of the broader Lexington market strategy, which will impact a range of KentuckyOne facilities across central and eastern Kentucky.

With 25 years of experience in hospital and health system administration, Bruce joins KentuckyOne from CHRISTUS Health, a multi-state and international faith-based health system, where he served in a variety of roles throughout his career. As president and chief executive officer of CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and for five years prior to that as chief operating officer, Bruce oversaw the creation and implementation of a multi-year strategic plan focused on quality; innovative care; physician, employee and board member integration; and financial growth.

Notably in his tenure at CHRISTUS St. Vincent, Bruce guided his leadership team to grow total net operating revenue from $265 million to $380 million, almost doubled the surgical volume, identified and realized $14 million in cost savings, and initiated an innovative structure of collaboration and engagement with independent and employed physicians.

Prior to his work with CHRISTUS St. Vincent, he served in a range of leadership positions during more than 18 years at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana, overseeing risk management, human resources, quality and medical staff services. He completed his tenure there as chief operating officer and administrator. A Louisiana native, Bruce earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Bruce has a passion for investing in the physicians and employees he works alongside and for integrating with the community he serves. KentuckyOne looks forward to welcoming Bruce and his family as we continue to focus on long-term stability within the Lexington market.

A special thank you to Sue Downs for her strong leadership and support of Saint Joseph Hospital, where she has served as interim president since November of 2014. Sue will return to Flaget Memorial Hospital full-time this November as facility president.
