University of Louisville Hospital
Sonnie Monger is a patient sitter on 9 South at University of Louisville Hospital. A few weeks ago, she was sitting with a patient when she noticed that the other patient in the same room was having difficulty breathing. She immediately alerted the nursing staff.
As it turns out, the patient was experiencing an anaphylactic reaction to some medication he was receiving. A STAT response was called, and a full-blown code was narrowly avoided.
Sonnie helped save this patient’s life because of her attentiveness and quick response.
