KentuckyOne Health Weight Loss Surgery Seminars

Learn more about the health benefits of weight loss surgery.

Soaring the past 20 years, there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States. Today, about one-third of U.S. adults (33.8 percent) are obese, and according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kentucky has the fifth-highest rate of obesity in the nation.

Weight loss provides many short- and long-term health benefits. For those with chronic obesity who have not been successful in losing weight through traditional methods such as diet and exercise, weight loss surgery may be an option to improve many health conditions, including:
•         Diabetes
•         High blood pressure
•         High cholesterol
•         Sleep apnea
•         Joint pain

At KentuckyOne Health, weight loss surgery is performed at Flaget Memorial Hospital, Saint Joseph East, Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, and now at Jewish Hospital on the downtown campus.

Free, regularly scheduled seminars are being held throughout April at the following locations in Bardstown, Elizabethtown, Lexington and Louisville. These will feature surgeons discussing the various types of weight loss surgery procedures and answering frequently-asked questions such as:
•         How do I know if I am eligible for weight loss surgery?
•         Is weight loss surgery right for everyone?
•         What are the risks of weight loss surgery?
•         How much weight will I lose? Will the weight loss be quick?
•         Will my insurance cover the procedure?
