CHI Decides to Sell Interest in PAML, Joint Ventures to LabCorp
Thursday, February 23, 2017
CHI and Providence Health & Services have decided to sell interests in Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories (PAML), which provides reference lab services and is based in Spokane, Washington. Laboratory Corporation of America, also known as LabCorp, will acquire PAML and its assets as well as several joint venture laboratories including outreach lab services in Colorado, Kentucky and Washington: Saint Joseph Lexington/Kentucky Lab Services, Centura Health/Colorado Lab Services and CHI Franciscan Health/PACLAB. Inpatient lab services will remain unchanged.
LabCorp is a leading health care diagnostics company, with over 50,000 employees around the globe working to deliver diagnostics, medicines, and technology-enabled solutions to improve patient care.
CHI routinely evaluates how to best deliver health care services to communities, and LabCorp was selected to provide high-quality and affordable laboratory testing, resources and products for patients and clients. The details of the transaction are still being determined and it will be subject to regulatory review.
CHI and Saint Joseph will work closely with LabCorp to ensure a smooth, thoughtful transition for PAML staff as well as any joint venture lab employees affected by the transaction. As well, we will make certain that our patients, hospitals, clients and clinicians experience no interruption and a continued level of quality service.
