Saint Joseph London
By Shelley Stanko, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Saint Joseph London and Chair of the Green Team
Earth Day is a nationally recognized holiday, falling this year on Saturday, April 22. The Green Team at Saint Joseph London is preparing to celebrate the natural resources we are blessed with through the recognition of Earth Day on April 28.
On that day between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., booths will be set up in the Fountain View Cafeteria Private Dining Room. Presenters include the local Farmers’ Market, the County Extension Office on composting, London Recycling, Supplies Over Seas, and the local high school greenhouses. The Green Team will be planting herbs in the planting beds off the cafeteria for the staff to harvest. The Green Team admired the work done at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth with their scrub donation drive to benefit Supplies Over Seas. Therefore, a drop box will be set up at the Earth Day celebration to allow Saint Joseph London staff to donate scrubs toward the same goal.
Pope Francis remarked in 2015, “This land has been blessed with tremendous opportunities. I pray that you may all be good and generous stewards of the human and material resources entrusted to you.” Saint Joseph London looks forward to continuing our Mission through this event.
