Jewish Hospital, Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital and University of Louisville Hospital, have been fully accredited for cardiac catheterization by Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE), an organization dedicated to ensuring adherence to the highest quality standards for cardiovascular and endovascular care.
ACE accreditation is a professional review of an organization’s structure, internal processes, patient safety practices, and clinical outcomes to determine if it meets the standards established by experts in cardiac and endovascular care.
“Our patients receive the best possible care by our interventional cardiologists and staff at all of our hospitals,” said Joe Gilene
, president of Jewish Hospital and downtown market leader. “At Jewish Hospital, we invested in a helipad and other high-tech equipment that have helped make a difference in the lives of our patients. This accreditation provides additional reinforcement of our commitment in heart care.”
“Access to a fully accredited heart facility is important to a patient’s survival,” said Chandhiran Rangaswamy, MD
, KentuckyOne Health Cardiology, medical director of invasive cardiology at Jewish Hospital. “As a leading heart care center, the patient care, outcomes and technology our team provides in cardiac catheterization is the gold standard for other hospitals to follow.”
“We congratulate the three KentuckyOne Health hospitals for seeking and obtaining an ACE cardiac catheterization accreditation,” said Bonnie Weiner, MD, ACE Chief Medical Officer. “By submitting to a rigorous, independent evaluation, these facilities have shown an uncompromising commitment to provide safe, high-quality care.”
ACE is committed to helping facilities that deliver interventional cardiovascular care to provide gold standard health care by measuring the facility’s practices, personnel, processes and outcomes against nationally-accepted best-practice standards. Implemented to supplement existing quality-improvement programs, the ACE outcomes-based accreditation promotes uniform benchmarks, and improves appropriate utilization via an independent, third-party evaluation of facilities and practices.
The ACE evaluation process involves an in-depth independent review of personnel, quality-assurance processes, facility equipment and outcomes information. All data collected is measured against nationally-accepted standards for the highest-quality cardiovascular care. Facilities that undergo this voluntary and rigorous process demonstrate an exceptional commitment to providing the best possible care to patients.
