Fall has arrived with cooler nights and the leaves just beginning to change color, which means Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It’s a time for gratitude and thanks for grateful patients and their families. Last week we cut the ribbon on a newly renovated waiting room at Saint Joseph Hospital and was I ever grateful to the donors that made it possible.

Both Bob and Bonnie Hall received lifesaving surgeries at Saint Joseph Hospital, their daughter Julia said, “and blessings abounded because of their outcomes.” The children follow an example set by their parents’ charitable giving. The Halls have long been supportive of community needs. Lee Hall, Julia’s brother, is vice chair of the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation board of directors.

I was so touched during Julia’s comments as she personally named the clinical team and staff that journeyed with their family. She thanked, “Karen Mullholland, Dr. Horn, Dr. Harper, Dr. Ma, Dr. Bridges, Dr. Bailey, Dr. Kennedy, Dr. Floyd, the nurses of 3A, charge nurse Bonnie and case manager Helen, and to Helen Hamilton. Thank you for your take charge attitude wrapped with the brightest smile, and to all the countless names and faces that cared for both mom and dad in the smallest of ways, please forgive me if I’ve not mentioned your name.”

Thank you to the staff that touched this family over the years and know that our team at the Foundation is so very grateful and thankful for the lives you continue to touch every day.
