Sister Janet Carr, Featured in Mountain Workshops, By Eian Kantor

Sister Janet Carr, Saint Joseph Mount Sterling
Sister Janet Carr, the chaplain and mission leader at Saint Joseph Mount Sterling, was recently featured in WKU's Mountain Workshops. “If I look deep enough, I can see the presence of a divine creator in all aspects of life,” she said. Angela Oakey, Saint Joseph Hospital
Angela Oakey, a sonographer in cardiac services at Saint Joseph Hospital, was selected as a recent Great Catch Award winner by the safety coaches. While performing an echo on a patient and noting stroke-like symptoms, Angela notified the physician immediately and a Code Stoke was initiated. The patient had a clot extraction and recovered without injury. Great job, Angela! Thanks for speaking up and escalating your concerns!

Lauren Beavers, RN, Flaget Memorial Hospital
Congratulations to Lauren Beavers, RN, Flaget Birth Center, who received the Daisy Award for the third quarter of 2018. “All were great, but I had Lauren the most,” a patient said when describing the nursing team at Flaget Memorial Hospital. “Lauren made me more comfortable and less nervous about my entire experience.”

Gayle Sweeney, Flaget Memorial Hospital
Congratulations to Gayle Sweeney, office coordinator, bariatric services, who received the Rose Award for the third quarter of 2018. “Speaking from my personal experience, Gayle always went above and beyond when dealing with me,” one patient said. “Anytime I had a question or concern, she would always be more than glad to assist me in a timely and friendly manner. She made a nervous time for me feel less hectic and for that I am grateful.”

Congratulations to Deborah Hazelwood, Michele King, Jessica Lucas and Matthew Markuson for being named Daisy Award recipients in 2018. They each were recently honored at a dinner celebration for their extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care.
