More than 500 guests dressed in tuxes and shimmering gowns filled the Lexington Center on Nov. 10, helping make the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation’s STARS Gala the biggest success in its 30 years. Thanks to incredible supporters, a record $140,000 was raised to benefit the Emergency Department at Saint Joseph Hospital.

This event is one of the Foundation’s most anticipated events of the year. Guests look forward to the live music, four-course meal, extensive live auction, and impactful mission moment. We also have the pleasure of honoring some of the area’s most innovative and caring health care professionals and community leaders.

This year’s award recipients were:
  • John Harris, MD, Physician of the Year, Saint Joseph Hospital
  • Kathleen Martin, MD, Physician of the Year, Saint Joseph East
  • Helen Hamilton, Jean Jacobs, Barbara Grossman, Genie Whayne, Phyllis Cronin, the late Pam Gee and the late Carol Eastland, the founders of the STARS Gala, Community Volunteer of the Year
  • Karen Hillenmeyer, recipient of the 2018 Practitioner of the Year award from the Kentucky Academy of Physician Assistants
Over the years, the Evening with the STARS Gala has raised more than $1.5 million for mission and outreach services at Saint Joseph Hospital, Saint Joseph East and the Saint Joseph Jessamine RJ Corman Ambulatory Care Center.
