Every year, I am amazed at how quickly the holiday season rolls around; but this year, Christmas seems to be arriving even sooner than usual. In just a few days, we will be celebrating this special time of year with our loved ones. Before we all take some time off to spend with family and friends, I want to take a moment to express my deepest appreciation to each of you for your ongoing dedication to this ministry.

I believe the reason that 2018 passed by so quickly is because of all the progress and success we have experienced this year in central and eastern Kentucky. When we launched our RENEW strategic plan earlier this year, the excitement across our organization was immediate. Since I arrived a few years ago, I have heard time and time again that we need to remember who we are; where we came from; and blaze a new path forward in honor of our foundresses, the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. RENEW established the blueprint to do just that and we have already accomplished many of the early priorities in the plan.

As we near the close of this year, we can celebrate that we have continued to expand access to care for our patients, making it easier to utilize our services; our employee and physician satisfaction scores have improved, and we are committed to improving even further; and we have experienced some of the strongest financial performance in years, which will allow us to reinvest in our organization through improvements and additional expansions.

It is obvious to me that the reason we have made so much progress is that you never gave up on our legacy, and what is most important – our patients and each other. For that, I am very thankful and am even more energized to begin a new year. We have only just begun, and there is even more exciting news ahead in 2019 that we will share very soon. For now, please take some time to enjoy this beautiful season with your loved ones.

Merry Christmas.
