Measuring the Patient Experience
The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey is a national program established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The program is intended to increase transparency around patient experience and to aid consumers in their health provider and hospital decisions. The Patient Experience and Service goals are set with the long-term effects of Value-Based Purchasing and improving HCAHPS scores in mind.
