  University of Louisville Hospital Receives Stroke Center Designation

University of Louisville Hospital was the 20th facility in the U.S. and the first in Kentucky to earn Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) designation from The Joint Commission. The CSC designation is the newest and highest level of Joint Commission certification for stroke centers. The Joint Commission certified University of Louisville Hospital’s stroke program as a primary stroke center in 2004.

  ENT Services Now Offered at SJE 

KentuckyOne Health employees will benefit from the opening of the new Saint Joseph Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Center, set for March 4, at Saint Joseph East. The ENT center will provide full-service otolaryngology services, including diagnosis and treatment of conditions relating to the head and neck, such as sinusitis, chronic ear infections, hearing loss, problems with balance, sleep apnea, allergies and snoring.

  Important Information for iPhone and iPad Users About iOS 6.1   

ITS Technical Services has learned of a problem with iPhones and iPads using Apple iOS 6.1 that causes Active Directory (AD)* account lockouts and affects the stability of CHI’s exchange (email). ITS is asking users not to upgrade to Apple iOS 6.1 on iPhones and iPads at this time. If you have installed the 6.1 update, it cannot be uninstalled; ITS is looking into possible solutions and will share them as they are available. *Your AD account is the network logon password for your computer, Inside CHI, Standard Time and Attendance, Webmail or CHI Connect.

Prevent Password Lockouts, Email Instability Issues   

To help prevent account lockouts and CHI exchange (email) stability problems, ITS is asking all computer, smart phone and tablet users to follow a few simple steps every time an Active Directory (AD)* password is changed/reset. *Your AD account is the network logon password for your computer, Inside CHI, Standard Time and Attendance, Webmail or CHI Connect.

  ITS Technical Services Transition to Wipro Complete 

The transition of select ITS Technical Services to Wipro is now complete. CHI’s Service Desk/ITS Help Desk, Desktop/End User Computing, Network and Data Centers are now managed by Wipro. This transition immediately affects KentuckyOne Health employees in central/eastern Kentucky, and the next few weeks could be a "bumpy road." The road will “smooth out” quickly and end users will see the benefits of the transition in the near future. (Employees in the Louisville area will transition from Dell to Wipro through May/early June.)

  New Degree Advancement Partnership with University of Phoenix 

The University of Phoenix is the newest addition to Catholic Health Initiatives' (CHI) growing list of university partners for degree advancement. In addition to a 10 percent tuition discount, the University of Phoenix will help transition completed training and development courses into elective credits through its Prior Learning Assessment process, and all fees associated with this process will be waived for CHI employees. Support PACT in Action

Physical, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner affects as many as one in three teens. February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Join PACT in Action as they're #PreventinIt. PACT in Action (Parkhill, Algonquin and California Teens in Action) is a youth-led initiative that is focused on reducing violence in Louisville neighborhoods that have some of the highest crime rates and lowest levels of educational attainment in the city. PACT in Action is a partnership of KentuckyOne Health and The Center for Women and Families.

Patient Feedback: 'London is Fortunate to Have Saint Joseph' 

In a "letter to the editor" published in the Sentinel-Echo on Feb. 15, a patient described his positive experience at Saint Joseph London. He wrote, "My wife took me to the emergency room on Jan. 4 with chest pain. I was immediately surrounded with hospital personnel who gave me their utmost attention. Dr. Rabiee, Dr. Hamed, all nurses and staff were highly efficient, respectful, kind and treated her with much dignity. I knew I was in good hands."

  Event Spotlight: Bottoms Up Bash 

KentuckyOne Health is the presenting sponsor of the Bottoms Up Bash Friday, March 1, 7:30 p.m.-midnight, at Mellwood Art Center in Louisville (1860 Mellwood Avenue). The Bottoms Up Bash raises money for the fight to end colorectal cancer. Regular tickets are $35/person in advance; $45 at the door, and include free cocktails and wine, heavy appetizers, and a night of live music and silent auction bidding.
