My Healthy Spirit: Get Started and Earn Your Wellness Incentives

For 2014, the wellness incentive is a reduction on your medical plan premium (taxable gift card if you are not enrolled in the medical plan). You can earn a $50 reduction on your medical plan premium for each quarter that you earn the incentive – for a total of up to $200 for you and up to $200 for your spouse. ICD-10 Training Now Available in LEARN 

Phase I staff ICD-10 education has been assigned in LEARN for the following areas across KentuckyOne Health: Pharmacy, Nursing, Lab, ED, CVSL, Quality, Therapies, Radiology, Care Management, Surgery and Dietary. Employees must complete this education by March 31. Phase II and III will be assigned March 1 and April 1, respectively, for more departments.

Good Catch: Our Lady of Peace RN Speaks Up for Safety, Prevents Harm 

Jennifer Carter, a registered nurse at Our Lady of Peace, noticed a lactose intolerant patient received a dairy product on her food tray. She prevented the item from being consumed by the patient and found a more suitable snack. It was a great use of Validate & Verify to prevent an incident of harm from occurring. Read More

When communicating information, via phone or face-to-face, use the Read-Back & Repeat-Back technique to ensure accuracy. This will make sure everyone is on the same page and has the correct information, reducing the chance of error.

Jewish Hospital Transplant Center Receives $200,000 from Doctors’ Ball 

Jewish Hospital’s Trager Transplant Center has received $200,000 from Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation. The money was raised at the 18th annual Doctors’ Ball and will be used for patient assistance and continuing education for employees. What inspired the ball’s attendees to open their wallets was a film about Joanne Breckinridge, a woman who desperately needed a kidney.

Saint Joseph London Foundation's Masquerade Ball Raised Nearly $42,000 

The Saint Joseph London Foundation's 2014 Affair of the Heart: Masquerade Ball raised nearly $42,000 to support patients and families through the hospital's healthy communities program. More than 280 guests attended the event on Feb. 1 at the London Community Center, wearing festive masks to set the mood.

OR Team Holds Chocolate Bake-off 

Operating Room team members at Saint Joseph Hospital held their second annual Valentine’s Day Chocolate Bake-off on Feb. 13. Nearly 20 entries made up the competition and included quite a variety, from chocolate-covered grapes to Tabasco chocolate-chip cookies. After indulging in the scrumptious desserts and recovering from their "sugar buzz," the judges named winners in five categories.

KentuckyOne Health dietitians will soon be featured on Jean West's Medical Digest, which airs Sunday mornings on Louisville's WAVE 3. Three segments will focus on improving your health through your diet and will feature health-conscious recipes and cooking ideas. The first segment – Sunday, Feb. 23, at 10:30 a.m. – will feature Jessica Walker, MS, RD, LD, with KentuckyOne.
