  2013 Payroll Tax Changes

There are some payroll-specific tax changes occurring in 2013, impacting all employees. For example, the legislation just passed to avoid the “fiscal cliff” did not include an extension of the 2 percent payroll tax cut for Social Security, which has been in place for the past two years. Therefore, the Social Security tax rate applied to payments dated in 2013 will be 6.2 percent.

The former JHSMH is now using the new payroll system that is part of HR/Payroll Connection. The first payday on the new system is today, Jan. 11. Log in to Inside CHI and view your pay statement and explore the other tools available. Existing HR policies from KentuckyOne Health legacy organizations are being reviewed, with the goal of transitioning to common policies across KentuckyOne on April 1. Employees of the former JHSMH will see different HR policies in the “My Handbook” section of HR/Payroll Connection. Disregard these policies; current policies will apply until our new KentuckyOne policies are in place April 1.

  McKesson STAR – What It Is, Why It's Important to KentuckyOne  

McKesson STAR is an IT platform that will standardize revenue cycle functions – from pre-registration to final billing – across KentuckyOne Health. It is part of the OneCare Program to ensure a seamless electronic environment and integration of all patient clinical and business information. On Feb. 1, McKesson STAR will go live at several Louisville-area facilities. Employees currently using Invision must schedule a training session.

  Leave of Absence Administrator Change 

The leave of absence administrator for the former JHSMH has changed from MetLife to Aon Hewitt, as of Jan. 1. This occurred as part of the multi-year plan to move to one standard program for KentuckyOne Health benefits and systems. Through the transition, MetLife will manage continuous leaves that started in 2012 until you return to work; Aon Hewitt will manage continuous leaves with a first day out of Jan. 1 and after; and Aon Hewitt will manage all intermittent leaves (regardless of the leave start date) and continuous leaves that start in 2013.

Our Lady of Peace Opens Acute Care Clinic for Employees 

The employee health office at Our Lady of Peace now offers acute care services for KentuckyOne Health employees, free of charge. The Acute Care Clinic in employee health is in place to treat acute, episodic medical conditions. This includes things such as cold symptoms, sore throat, pink eye, ear aches, minor aches and pains and more.

  'Walk With A Doc' Tomorrow 

Have you made a pledge to be more active in 2013? Are you tired of the treadmill? Join us for January’s Walk With A Doc in Louisville this Saturday, Jan. 12 (rain or shine), at the new Parklands of Floyds Fork (15712 Shelbyville Road). Walkers will meet at the Egg Lawn at 10 a.m. You’ll get great exercise while enjoying great conversation with physicians like Jewish Physician Group’s Jesse Adams of Medical Center Cardiologists. A drawing will be held for three Rewards points for a lucky KentuckyOne Health employee.

Martin Luther King, Jr., Legacy Celebration 

KentuckyOne Health employees are invited to the Martin Luther King, Jr., Legacy Celebration Friday, Jan. 18, sponsored by the Diversity Council of KentuckyOne’s Louisville-area facilities. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Reverend Kevin W. Cosby, pastor of St. Stephen Church and president of Simmons College of Kentucky. The event will feature musical performances. The celebration begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Rudd Heart & Lung Bldg. (16th Floor).
