Today, as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy, we pause to remember a man who challenged America's conscience through his leadership of sacrificial love, service and devotion. In a society where violence, poverty and other problems continue to plague the hope and health status of our communities, we’re pausing to reflect and reaffirm our commitment to bring wellness, healing and hope to all, aligned with Dr. King's life and work.

This year, KentuckyOne Health honors Dr. King by moving further into our own commitment of inclusion and dignity for all. We must make decisions that enable us to deliver compassionate care to every single patient. Dr. King said that, “of all forms of injustice, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.”

What Are You Doing for Others?

To further the devotion and commitment that the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., demonstrated to service throughout his life, KentuckyOne Health calls you to serve! You’re encouraged to participate in a service project anytime this month. Get involved and share with us by Jan. 25! Individually or with your co-workers, you can serve meals at a homeless shelter, organize a food drive, clean a neighbor’s yard or help someone in need.

For employees who provided consent to access their 2015 W-2 online rather than through the U.S. Mail, they will be available on Wednesday, Jan. 20. If you did not provide consent to receive your 2015 W-2 online, it will be sent to the mailing address listed on your Personal Information tab in HR/Payroll Connection. These forms will be mailed on or before Jan. 30.

New In-House Access Center to Launch

One call is all it will take to coordinate patient transfers and ensure the best care. On March 1, KentuckyOne Health will launch a new internal Access Center designed to speed the process with which physicians determine where patients can be placed based on bed availability. With the change, the overall quality of care and outcomes for patients who need urgent access to tertiary clinical services will improve and resources will be connected more efficiently.

‘Pivot to Peace’ Collaborative to Help Decrease Violence in West Louisville

KentuckyOne Health announced a partnership with community groups and leaders called Pivot to Peace, an innovative, evidence-informed collaboration to address and prevent violent crime in West Louisville. Pivot to Peace is designed to build stronger, safer neighborhoods by linking survivors of violent gun and knife injuries to community resources after they are discharged from University of Louisville Hospital.

Help Rescue Lives on the
Taking it to the Heart Tour

KentuckyOne Health is launching a statewide initiative, called the Taking it to the Heart Tour, designed to train or teach thousands of Kentuckians in hands-only bystander CPR during the month of February, which is American Heart Month. Employees from all facilities interested in becoming trainers are invited to learn hands-only CPR and help during the tour stops across the state next month.
