New Board of Stewardship Trustees Members
CHI has announced new members of the Board of Stewardship Trustees, as well as a new board chair, effective July 1.
Christopher Lowney, a member of the Board of Stewardship Trustees since 2009, will serve as board chair beginning July 1. He succeeds Phyllis Hughes, RSM, who has been a member of the board since 2004 and has served as board chair since 2008. A former Jesuit seminarian, Lowney later served as a managing director of J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York, Tokyo, Singapore and London. He is a popular author and speaker on topics such as leadership, business ethics and inter-religious dialogue.
Geraldine Bednash is CEO and executive director of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, Washington, D.C.
Richard Corrente is a retired business executive who served in various financial management positions in 35 years with Raytheon Company, Lexington, MA.
Katherine Gray, CSJ, is a past general superior of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, CA.
Barbara Hagedorn, SC, is a past president of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, one of CHI's participating congregations.
Lillian Murphy, RSM, is the CEO of Mercy Housing, Denver, CO, a nonprofit organization that provides people who are economically poor with quality, affordable homes.
Edward Speed is retired from a 35-year career in banking, financial services, real estate development and construction.
James Hamill joined the Board of Stewardship Trustees in December 2012. He served as president and CEO of Washington County Health System (now Meritus Health), Hagerstown, MD, from 2000 until his retirement in 2011.
CPE Forums, Case Studies Share Leading Practices
CHI's Clinical and Process Excellence (CPE) team is sharing leading practices and results of CPE efforts through case studies and a monthly forum. CPE, part of CHI’s Clinical and Operational Excellence Initiative, focuses on improving clinical operations and reducing costs. Case studies and forum recordings are available on Inside CHI's CPE page.
The next CPE Forum will focus on multidisciplinary rounds at Mercy-Des Moines and blood utilization at St. Vincent-Little Rock. The information will be useful for quality leaders, CMOs/CNOs, other clinical leaders and CPE teams.

Report Highlights PFAC Accomplishments
A new CHI report, Patient Engagement in Action 2012, shares the accomplishments of Patient and Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) throughout CHI. During FY2012, each PFAC selected and monitored a project to improve the patient experience, producing new resources, ideas and outcome measurements that other CHI organizations can use. The report presents summaries of each PFAC project, with links to additional detail.
ITS Service Desk Now on Inside CHI
New pages for the ITS Service Desk (formerly known as the IT Help Desk) are now available on Inside CHI. The new pages are organized by employee audience:
• The Tools for Users (Employees) link leads to do-it-yourself (DIY) tools that all employees can use to solve computer problems on their own, as well as outage information, ITS ticket response times, access requests and more. There is also a link to the faces behind the voices on the ITS Service Desk: pictures and bios of the ITS Service Desk team and their workspaces in Manila and Chennai.
• The Tools for ITS Employees link leads to on-the-job tools for the use of ITS employees.
New Way to Submit IT Services Requests
On June 28, Information Technology Services (ITS) will launch a simpler process for service requests. CHI employees will be able to make requests via a new Request for ITS Services website or via an ITS site director, manager or national group liaison. Employees who make requests via the new website will be able to check the status of their requests at any time.
The Request for ITS Services site will be used to request services that involve short- or long-term planning for projects, as well as smaller work requests. For immediate ITS support needs, including help with computer hardware or software problems, employees should continue to contact the ITS Service Desk directly.
The link for the Request for IT Services site will be in an upcoming issue. Employees will also learn more through meetings with ITS site directors and managers. For more information about the new process or site, contact your ITS site director or manager.
My Healthy Spirit Enhances Wellness Center Portlet
The My Healthy Spirit Wellness Center for employees and their eligible spouses now includes graphic indicators that show the status of the employee's and spouse's biometrics; Personal Health Assessments (PHAs); and accumulated Healthy Spirit wellness incentive points, which are necessary to earn a discount on 2014 CHI Medical Plan contributions. Based on an individual's status, the same graphics, as well as rollover “tool tips,” may link to related content.
For new employees starting at CHI between June 1 and Dec. 1: Personalized communications will invite you and your spouse to participate in the Healthy Spirit Wellness Incentive Program and guide you towards earning a $150 taxable gift card.

Welcome MBA Summer Associates
Four MBA students are participating in a 10-week internship in the Denver national office as a part of CHI’s new MBA Summer Associate Program. CHI welcomes Heather Richards, University of Colorado; Terrance Wallace, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University; and Kathryn Ruggeri and Michael Berry, Daniels College of Business, University of Denver. From June 10 to Aug. 16, they will complete projects designed to provide real-world health care experience.
ST&A Downtime Begins June 18
Action: Review changes to Standard Time and Attendance and prepare for downtime
CHI will upgrade its Standard Time and Attendance (ST&A, also known as Kronos) and Time and Attendance Analytics applications. Beginning June 18, users will experience scheduled periods of downtime:
Standard Time and Attendance (Kronos) 6.3 Upgrade
48 hours of downtime (may be less)
Begins: June 18, 9 a.m. ET
Ends: June 20, 9 a.m. ET
Time and Attendance Analytics 6.3 Upgrade
7 days of downtime (approximate)
Begins: June 18, 9 a.m. ET
Ends: Approximately June 25; a communication will be sent out when the upgrade is complete and Time and Attendance analytics are available.
Action needed during downtime
Employees who timestamp need to manually track in and out times. Employees who use time clocks or Telephony Time Entry (TTE) can continue to punch in and out.
Training and information available
Training is available in LEARN in the form of a job aid for timekeepers and managers, who will see the course in their LEARN queues beginning this week; or, to find the course in LEARN, search for "Standard Time & Attendance Upgrade." A job aid for managers and employees can also be viewed online.

New Issue of COE Momentum Available
The June issue of Momentum, a monthly update on CHI’s Clinical and Operational Excellence journey, is now available on the COE page on Inside CHI. The site also offers other COE resources and a place to sign up to have Momentum sent directly to your email inbox. Among other topics, this month’s Momentum tells how CHI hospitals are preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia by recommitting to protocols and cultivating new levels of staff and physician engagement.
