Becoming KentuckyOne: Changing How We Care for Patients
Ellen Loudermilk, RN, has a unique kind of personality that makes her a great health coach. According to her patient and KentuckyOne employee John Kim, “Ellen lends an empathetic ear but at the same time she is persistent in holding people accountable and motivating them to make healthy lifestyle changes.” Ellen is one of four health coaches who are part of a pilot project launched in March by KentuckyOne Health Partners and as part of the Care Management Redesign Initiative.

Two-factor Authentication Enforcement Postponed
The two-factor authentication enforcement, originally set for today, June 20, is being postponed. ITS is postponing the June 20 enforcement date to use an implementation approach that involves working on a location-by-location basis. This will allow time for engagement with local clinical support to help enroll users and to provide them with hands-on training to address user problems encountered during enrollment and initial use.

All nursing staff members at Saint Joseph Hospital are invited to attend a Nursing Roundtable next week, June 24-25, hosted by Carol Dwyer, vice president of patient care services. Each session will last one hour and be held in the Blakely Auditorium: Tuesday, June 24, 8 a.m.; Tuesday, June 24, 10 p.m.; and Wednesday, June 25, 2 p.m.

Good Catch: Pharmacist James Ross Ensures Patient Gets Proper Medication
While reviewing a patient’s echocardiogram, Saint Joseph Hospital Pharmacist James Ross noted it reported a thrombus located in the patient’s left ventricle; however, the pharmacist did not see anticoagulant on the patient’s medication list. The pharmacist notified the cardiology APRN who immediately called the cardiologist. The cardiologist thus gave an order to start the patient on Eliquis to treat the identified heart thrombus.

Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital to Celebrate 20-year Anniversary with Luau
When a child has brain injury from a car accident–when a woman suffers a debilitating stroke–when a man undergoes hip replacement surgery–or when an elderly person is struggling with Parkinson’s, their journey through the healing process can be extremely challenging. But in southern Indiana, these patients and their families have a strong, caring ally to help them recover: Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital (SIRH). This year marks the 20th anniversary for SIRH. The staff will be honored today, June 20, with a Hawaiian luau, complete with luscious foods and games.

Volunteers Needed for Ironman Louisville
The Ironman Louisville is coming back on August 24, and for the second year, KentuckyOne Health is sponsoring an aid station to support the event. By managing an aid station, Ironman will give money to the Frazier Rehab Ironman Housing Fund. The fund is designed to meet housing, transportation and quality of life needs for patients at Frazier Rehab. At least 80 volunteers will be needed to step up and take part in the aid stop team and cheer the athletes on as they cover the 140.6 mile course.
