New Program Will Catch Up on Service Anniversaries 

Your service anniversaries at KentuckyOne Health will be celebrated through a new online recognition program available June 26. Anniversary data is being transferred to the new program; you don’t need to take action. Recognition and points not yet awarded for anniversaries in 2014 will be fulfilled in June and July.

LEARN: Changes to User IDs and Contractor Access 

A few changes will be made to improve the security and performance of LEARN. These updates will go live on July 1, 2014. The changes will have a relatively small impact on the employee end-user experience; however, anyone who currently accesses the system as a contractor (Conifer, Wipro, RN travelers, etc.) will experience a more substantial change.

Saint Joseph Jessamine Celebrates Entire Year with No Serious Safety Events 

That accomplishment is no accident, according to Greg Giles, who serves as director of operations for KentuckyOne central and eastern ambulatory sites. “Over the past year, we really increased our attention to the SafetyFirst Program,” Greg said. “The staff has become very engaged in using various safety techniques to prevent errors, and we’ve all increased our communication with each other.”

SafetyFirst Great Catch: Angela Hockman Assists Patient Using 'Stop and Resolve' 

Angela Hockman, Our Lady of Peace, used the SafetyFirst techniques Stop and Resolve and Having a Questioning Attitude to assist a patient. Because she noted an empty car in the parking lot, running and with a purse locked inside, she was able to track down the car's owner —a patient who couldn't hear the overhead announcement about the state of her car due to a missing hearing aid.

KentuckyOne Health has launched a new concept in prevention and wellness with the opening of three Healthy Lifestyle Centers in Louisville. These centers offer medically supervised exercise, nutrition counseling, stress management and more to help people get and stay healthy — all services that could make a great gift for Father’s Day.

Louisville Symposium on Heart Disease in Women 

The University of Louisville, in conjunction with KentuckyOne Health and University of Louisville Physicians, is hosting a conference in Louisville June 28 to help educate patients and health care professionals (CME available) about the prevention, recognition and treatment of heart disease in women. Two dozen doctors and health professionals are scheduled to speak including Ruth Brinkley, CEO of KentuckyOne Health.

Berea, Kentucky, has long been a mecca for artists. That’s why Saint Joseph Berea has such beautiful art in its permanent collection. The KentuckyOne facility’s artist in residence, Debra Hille, coordinates the rotating art exhibits in the hospital’s hallways.
