Answer: Maintaining the current OneCare Cerner schedule is good for patients and will help KentuckyOne’s financial performance. The system is on track for the June 14th Cerner go-live date for Jewish Hospital, Frazier Rehab, Jewish Hospital Shelbyville, Medical Center Jewish East, Medical Center Jewish South, Medical Center Jewish Northeast and Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital. Joe Gilene Congratulates His New Team for Their Efforts During Recent Flood 

Joe Gilene, newly-named president of Jewish Hospital, has nothing but the highest praise for his team members for their tremendous efforts to manage patients safely and with compassion during the fifth- and sixth-floor flood that deluged those floors on March 12. As president, his focus is on quality, safety and the patient experience. “Nothing shows the depth of our commitment to our values better than upholding them even during a crisis,” he said.

KentuckyOne Not Participating in Current PCA Survey; Watch for ‘Pulse’ Survey 

CHI’s annual Performance Culture Assessment (PCA) survey began March 10 and runs through March 31. You may have seen communication about the survey on the Inside CHI homepage. Please note that KentuckyOne Health is not participating in the survey at this time. A brief "pulse" survey will be conducted throughout our local facilities to obtain employee feedback. Watch for more details later this summer.

Highest Quality IV Catheter will be Standardized Across KentuckyOne 

For some time, each of KentuckyOne's hospitals has purchased catheters from one of three different vendors: B. Braun Company, Becton Dickinson (BD) or Smith’s Medical. All three products are clinically acceptable and have been proven safe for patients. Because of the sheer volume of catheters used, however, KentuckyOne leaders decided to determine which of the three products offered the very highest quality. The plan was to get every facility using that catheter. A trial was conducted and BD’s catheter emerged the winner.

Help Name the New Therapy Puppy at Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital 

Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital (SIRH), a partnership of Frazier Rehab Institute, Clark Memorial and Floyd Memorial Hospitals, will welcome a new puppy later this month that will train to serve as a therapy dog at the hospital. The female puppy is a Goldendoodle. You can help name the newest addition to SIRH by casting your vote online here by March 23. The staff have narrowed it down to five options: Addie, Bella, Brandi, Indi and Jozie.

Have You Completed Your Corporate Responsibility Annual Education? 

Workforce education is an important component of our Corporate Responsibility Program. Annually, KentuckyOne Health employees are required to complete compliance education, which is offered as web-based training courses through LEARN. Each employee (hired before July 1, 2013) has been assigned two courses; the deadline for completion of both courses is March 31. Per CHI policy, employees who fail to complete this required education by the deadline will be suspended without pay until it is completed.

Gala for Healing and Hope Raised Nearly $31,000 in Berea 

The 1st Annual Saint Joseph Berea Foundation Gala for Healing and Hope was held on Saturday, March 1, at the historic Boone Tavern in Berea, KY. The Gala for Healing and Hope raised nearly $31,000 with more than 180 attendees to support the mission and outreach services of Saint Joseph Berea.

Volunteers Needed for Wheelchair Rugby Tournament 

Volunteers are still needed for the 2014 National Wheelchair Rugby Tournament next weekend, March 21-23, at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Volunteers are needed for event set-up, transportation, registration/check-in, game tables and T-shirt sales.
