Values in Action – What Should We Expect of One Another?

In April 2013 KentuckyOne Health adopted its new Purpose and Values Statement. A workgroup consisting of staff and some board members has taken the conversation about our organizational values of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion and Excellence to a deeper level by attempting to define concrete behaviors that reflect each of them. Visit the New Healthy Lifestyle Center at Medical Center Jewish Northeast 

KentuckyOne Health is launching a new concept in prevention and wellness with the opening of the first of three Healthy Lifestyle Centers providing medically supervised exercise, nutrition counseling, stress management and more to help people get and stay healthy. The first new center is now open at Medical Center Jewish Northeast and all employees are invited to an open house on May 29, from 4-5 p.m., to tour the facility and learn more.

Take a Walk with a Doc this Spring 

KentuckyOne Health employees and family members are encouraged to "Walk with a Doc" this spring. You can earn wellness points if you log the activity as a "community event" on the My Healthy Spirit website. If you're participating in the Move Your Spirit challenge, this will help you reach your 200,000 steps! (Click here to learn more about how to earn wellness points.) Monthly walks are currently held in several locations in Louisville, Bardstown and London. Join us and exercise side-by-side with our health experts!

My Healthy Spirit: Get Started and Earn Your Wellness Incentives 

Are you tracking your wellness activities on the My Healthy Spirit website? Get moving and work toward your wellness incentive each quarter – a $50 reduction on your medical plan premium (or taxable gift card if you are not enrolled in the medical plan). Spouses enrolled on your medical plan can participate, too. There are several ways to earn points. Download a quick guide to get started.

Volunteers Needed at Family Community Clinic in Louisville 

At KentuckyOne, we are committed to bringing wellness, healing and hope to all. One way we live out our purpose is by improving access to health care through support of the Family Community Clinic, a Louisville facility that provides free care to adults and children who have no health insurance. The clinic is in need of more volunteers to keep the doors open five days a week to those in need.

SafetyFirst Great Catch: Jessica Shewmaker Has a Questioning Attitude 

Jessica Shewmaker, a registered nurse at Flaget Memorial Hospital, questioned a patient's lab results as they did not correlate with her assessment and current status of the patient. She notified the lab to validate and verify that correct results were sent. With further investigation, it was discovered the results were incorrectly reported.

Two-Factor Authentication for Remote IT Access  

CHI is implementing Secure Access two-factor authentication for remote access to CHI systems to help ensure that physician, patient, employee and organization information remains protected. Two-factor authentication, which requires two different steps to authenticate user identity, is an industry standard for accessing networks and systems from remote locations.
