OneCare Cerner Wave 3 Goes Live! 

On Saturday, Sept. 6, seven facilities in the Louisville market went live with OneCare Cerner, an advanced Electronic Health Record system. Physicians, clinicians and staff members who work with patients or patient records have been undergoing months of intensive training to be prepared for this new system. Pam Elzy Named Director of Clinical Education for KentuckyOne 

Effective Sept. 28, Pam Elzy, BSN, RN, MHA, CNOR, will serve as the director of clinical education for KentuckyOne Health. Pam is currently the director of nursing education, research and informatics at University of Louisville Hospital. In her new role, she will help set the vision and direction for nursing education and professional nursing practice across the system.

Cold Splashes Continue Across State 

KentuckyOne employees across the state continue to take up the Ice Bucket Challenge, which raises money for ALS research. ALS is a progressive, fatal neurodegenerative disease. There is no cure. 

Dr. Steven Stack, a KentuckyOne Health emergency department physician who was recently chosen as the president of the American Medical Association (AMA), braved the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise funds for ALS research on Aug. 26 at Saint Joseph East. Read More 

A few of the nurse managers at University of Louisville Hospital were challenged by staff to have ice water thrown at them as part of the fundraiser. They agreed to be doused. On Aug. 26 they raised money for ALS, and also for a Supporting Heroes Fund for two injured firefighters. A day later, on Aug. 27, the executive staff braved the cold water and raised even more money. Read More

Nominations Due Sept. 30 for 'Physician of the Year' Award 

Know a physician who has made a positive difference in the delivery of health care? Nominate him or her for the 2014 President’s Award for Physician of the Year at Saint Joseph Hospital and Saint Joseph East. Nominations are being accepted now through Sept. 30. Nominees will be honored, and a winner announced, at the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation’s 26th Annual Evening with the STARS on Nov. 15.
